Built for

The same feed, three very different desks.

Screens need speed. Risk needs an audit trail. Products need an integration that does not page you at 3am. One API contract serves all three.

01 One feed, every screen

Trading desks

Replace three vendor terminals and a spreadsheet with a single normalised feed. Pull the last, the session range and the curve into your blotter, then push fills against a price your risk system already trusts.

  • Sub-second snapshots
  • Session high / low / change
  • Stable symbols across venues
02 Auditable inputs

Risk teams

Every response carries an as-of timestamp and a request id, so a limit breach can be reconstructed months later. Backfill a decade of closes without asking a vendor for a CSV.

  • Immutable request ids
  • Ten years of history
  • Reproducible as-of pulls
03 Ship in an afternoon

Fintech products

A JSON API with one header, predictable errors and no SOAP. Start on the free tier, keep the same request shape in production, and scale the key rather than the integration.

  • REST + JSON only
  • Idempotent, cacheable GETs
  • Usage-based upgrade path

Coverage

27 instruments. One response shape.

Every instrument returns the same fields — symbol, name, category, unit, last, change and percentage move — so one parser handles gold, Brent and cocoa without a lookup table.

Infrastructure

Ingest once. Normalise hard. Deliver anywhere.

Meridian is not a scraper with a JSON wrapper. Venue feeds land in London and Geneva, get mapped to a single instrument model, and are served from read-only replicas in four regions.

  • 01

    Deterministic symbology

One symbol per instrument, stable across venues and contract months. No vendor-specific codes leaking into your codebase.

  • 02

    Auditable timestamps

Every payload carries an as-of time and request id. Reproduce any valuation months later without a support ticket.

  • 03

    Four regions, one key

Traffic is routed to the nearest healthy edge. Enterprise keys can pin to a region or run private endpoints.

Quickstart

A key, a header, done.

No SDK required, though the shape is boring enough to wrap in ten lines. Every endpoint is a cacheable GET and returns JSON with a request id.

  • Authorization · Bearer <key>
  • Base URL · https://api.meridian-data.example/v1
  • Format · JSON, UTF-8, gzip
Full quickstart

The key above is a placeholder. Issue a real one and the example is printed ready to paste.

FAQ

Questions engineers actually ask.

Everything else is in the API reference.

Do I need a credit card for the free tier?

No. The free key is issued instantly, has no expiry and does not require billing details. It is limited to 10,000 requests a month and non-commercial use.

How fresh is the data?

Pro and Enterprise keys receive snapshots refreshed every second during the session. Free keys receive 15-minute delayed values plus end-of-day closes. Every response includes an as-of timestamp you can audit.

What happens when I exceed my rate limit?

The API returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header and a rate_limit error body. Requests are never silently dropped. Monthly quota resets on the first of the month, UTC.

Can I use the data commercially?

Yes, on Pro and Enterprise. The free tier is for evaluation and non-commercial projects. Redistribution of raw values requires an Enterprise agreement.

Where is the API hosted?

Four regions: London, Frankfurt, Virginia and Singapore. Keys are region-agnostic; pin traffic to a region on Enterprise. All traffic is TLS 1.3 with HSTS.

Is this real market data?

No. Meridian Data is a fictional product built for demonstration. Prices are deterministic, fabricated snapshots and must not be used for valuation, settlement or trading decisions.
